About Us

PARIMAL – The Pracademic Action Research Initiative (with) Multidisciplinary Approach Lab,

is a laboratory of ideas as well as a vehicle for transformation by working, testing while we work, evaluating, experimenting, and incorporating change based on evidences proving what works and what doesn’t. The paradigm of research is based on action research methodologies utilizing qualitative and quantitative methodologies.

This methodological frame is based on diagnosing and identifying a field or practice based problem testing it against established or instructive reform mandates or utilizing totally a new and innovative approach in solving that problem through action planning. The action planning would suggest consideration of alternative courses of action and then actually translating those action plan by a field based action or practice implementation. Once the practice implementation happens the evaluation would commence on what and how of practice done and outcomes achieved. This evaluation in itself would lead to Evidence-Based learning which would then be utilized for incorporating change and through a policy-based output which would be utilized for incorporation for a wider change if accepted by the stakeholders concerned.

PARIMAL utilizes participative, collaborative research methods involving practitioners and academics in solving field-based problems through evidence-based reform strategies. Apart from Governance-based reforms the PARIMAL Lab specializes in Evidence-Based Policing, realizing that “evidence-based policing creates, reviews and develops the best available research evidence, integrated with officer experience and an examination of the data and intelligence related to an issue” –(Jerry Ratcliffe & Renee J. Mitchell, 2017)

This lab is established in the MP Police through DG’s Research and Policy Cell (DGRPC) of MP Police where the DGRPC is interested to invite Research Organizations, Think Tanks and Policy based Institute as its partners and collaborators. It has its incubation center at MP Police Academy. Parimal hosts all pracademic research, innovations, implementations, field testing, surveys, customized action research, program and other evidence based evaluations and policy based research works and documentation relevant to the mandate of the Lab.

THE PARIMAL UMBRELLA

Within Parimal, different centers of excellence and innovation are placed for pracademic responsibilities – like Gender Resource Center, Digital Forensics Center etc. Separate mandate of the Lab would be chalked out based on the DG Research and Policy Cell & responsibilities to do evidence based, experimental and analytical work informing field practice in public service, governance and justice sector.
